The Biancolella takes its name from the white wine of Ischia — the island you can see across the bay on clear days, reachable by sea from our harbour, seven minutes' walk away.
The grape
Biancolella is the white grape that shaped Ischia's wine history. It grows on volcanic soils, on narrow terraces held up by dry-stone walls, clinging to slopes that drop steeply towards the sea.
This is heroic viticulture in the literal sense: no tractors, no machinery, everything done by hand and carried on the shoulder along steps cut into the tufa. The wine that comes out is taut and saline, with the mineral undertow the island gives almost everything that grows on it.
If the room makes you curious enough to want to see the place, Ischia deserves more than a day trip: the direct connections from Sorrento are seasonal, and our guide has the detail on how and when to go.
The room
Twenty square metres, a double bed, clean lines and a lot of natural light. It is the room guests most often describe as bright.
Fittings: air conditioning, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, fridge, safe, desk, wardrobe and a kettle. Private en-suite bathroom with shower, bidet, hairdryer and toiletries.
Who it suits
Anyone who comes back to the room at the end of the day and wants to find an ordered, light space with no fuss, where things are where they should be.
It is identical in size and fittings to the other three. The only one that genuinely differs is the Aglianico, which has the private balcony: if open air is a priority, look at that one. If it is not, you are missing nothing here.
Breakfast, self check-in, walking distances and everything else about the property are gathered on the rooms page.
